Fulton, Ja. – Georgia’s Foreign Minister Brad Ravensberger said he was pressuring provinces to complete the vote count, with fewer than 150,000 ballot papers left to be counted as of Wednesday night.
Here’s what voting looks like in Georgia now:
(2,656 / 2,656)
There was a narrow margin between Trump and Biden in Georgia, which is a close race in a state that has not supported Democratically for the presidency since 1992. There is no automatic recount, but a candidate can request it if the margin is within 0.5%.
The outstanding vote was primarily in the Atlanta area, which has a tendency to democracy. On Wednesday, about 50 people were counting the ballots inside the State Farm Arena, the home of the Atlanta Hawks NBA.
“We try to make sure every ballot count,” said Fulton County Elections Director Richard Barron. “We expect this will likely continue until midnight or longer.”
Barron went on to say, “We’ll finish tonight. As long as it takes, we’ll be here.”
At about 9:30 p.m., Barron said his crew obtained about 24,000 more ballot papers.
Counties have until 5 PM on November 13th to certify results.
At stake in Georgia are 16 electoral votes. The date of the all absentee ballot was Tuesday.
President Trump’s campaign files lawsuits in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan
On Wednesday night, President Trump’s campaign and the Republican Party in Georgia filed a lawsuit against the Chatham County Election Board asking the judge to order the county to secure and account for ballots received after 7 p.m. Election Day.
State party President David Schaeffer said in a statement on Wednesday evening that they intend to file a case in twelve provinces.
The lawsuit alleges that a Republican observer saw a poll worker take unprocessed absentee ballots from a backroom and mix them into absentee ballots prepared while awaiting their scheduling.
In Georgia, ballot papers must be received by 7 pm on election day in order to count. Chatham County contains Savannah and Democratic leaning.
A woman who answered the phone at the Chatham County Board of Elections, declined to comment.
Georgia is among the few countries the Associated Press has not contacted. In the race for the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, Democrat Joe Biden currently has 264 votes while Trump has 214.
Trump The campaign has also filed lawsuits in Pennsylvania and Michigan. The Associated Press called Michigan state Democrat Joe Biden on Wednesday. Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia are still hesitating.
The campaign said the new filings, which join legal challenges to Republicans in Pennsylvania and Nevada, demand better access for campaign observers to locations where ballots are processed and counted, and concerns about the absentee ballot. However, at one of the Michigan sites in question, the Associated Press observed poll observers from both sides monitoring on Wednesday.
