A fire in St. John’s caused significant damage to a unit of a two-story house Sunday night, but no injuries were reported.
The fire broke out in the apartment below and was reported by residents living upstairs to 911 at 7:45 p.m.
When firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department arrived, they found the apartment filled with smoke. They stopped an attacking fort and set it on fire within minutes, but not before the damage was done.
No one was home in the affected apartment at the time, and the floor occupants fled safely from their section.
Firefighters were able to locate two cats of their own and return them safely to their owners.
The RNC is investigating the incident.
