Nunavut is reporting a new COVID-19 case in Arviat, a community of about 2,800 people who witnessed the region’s biggest eruption with 222 cases.
This is the first new case of COVID-19 in the area since December 28th.
The area’s chief public health officer said a follow-up test after the eruption had a positive result.
Dr. Michael Patterson says there is no evidence that the community is spreading at this time.
